Submission: | The Conservative Party believes that critical minerals should be owned and controlled by Canadians. Canada has an ethical responsibility to expand the exploration, mining, and exportation of critical minerals. It is imperative that Canada becomes a global leader and supplier of ethical, morally clean energy and minerals. We support positive policies pertaining to the mining industry for the future such as:

Rationale: | The world is in an energy transitional phase, and the demand for critical rare earth minerals is increasing. Canada has identified an abundance of 31 of these minerals in which a strategic action plan must be in place to harness the potential both economically and ethically. Most of the world's Cobalt, necessary for most EV batteries comes via artisanal mining in DRC. Uranium for the Nuclear future is coming from Kazakhstan. The list goes on. The money these resources generate currently lines treacherous pockets. In Canada, we know firsthand the jobs it creates and regulations these companies must follow. |
