Submission: | The Conservative Party believes health care is a human right and all Canadians should have equal Flexibility for the provinces and territories in the implementation of health services should include a balance of public and private delivery options maintaining the single payer system for provincially deemed necessary health services. The government should work with the provinces and territories in the development of national quality indicators and objectives. The government should work with the provinces and territories and professional medical groups to increase the supply of health care professionals where shortages exist. The Conservative Party supports conscience rights for doctors, nurses, and others to refuse to participate in, or refer their patients for abortion, assisted suicide, or euthanasia. The government should work with provinces and territories and professional medical groups to develop a National Palliative Care Strategy and adopt appropriate legislation to provide timely and equitable access across Canada to palliative care. |
Rationale: | Conservative policy must show strong support of the concept that health care, is a human right, not a privilege determined by the size of one’s bank account. The single payer health care system, whether delivered by government, private industry, or a combination of both, is overwhelmingly supported by most voting Canadians. It’s time to show strong Conservative support for the single payer, single-tier, equal access, health care for all Canadians, so that the opposition will stop accusing us of promoting an American style two-tier health care system, which Canadians do not want. |
